EPLAN Software & Service, August 2002: EPLAN 21 Version 3.3 In a nutshell

EPLAN 21 - Version 3.3 for Windows XP released
In March, EPLAN Software & Service presented the new Release 3.3 of EPLAN 21. The powerful PLC functions are a major focus of the innovations which characterize this new version. However, the latest version of EPLAN 21 also has plenty more to offer – like the release of Windows XP.

Release of Windows XP
In order to make EPLAN 21 compatible with the latest Microsoft technology, EPLAN Software & Service has released Version 3.3 for Windows XP. This release represents a milestone in the EPLAN application, and provides impressive proof that progress is a top priority in EPLAN development!

New PLC functions
Thanks to new input fields (such as symbolic address, terminal connection type, PLC terminal number) terminal properties can now be defined far more easily and precisely. The PLC dialogues enable complete editing of PLC data, including a new addressing and sorting feature – easy and intuitive editing. Via the PLC assistant, an allocation list allows you to provide data for further editing by the PLC programmer, and also to compare information which has been modified with the EPLAN project. This eliminates time-consuming multiple data inputs, which can often be a source of errors.

Extended translation module
The display language can now be stored for each individual project - the time-consuming process of changing the display language when you switch projects has been eliminated. Furthermore, comments and component descriptions are now translated as well – the entire text in bills of materials etc. will now appear in your chosen foreign language. In
addition, the import and export functions have been extended for even easier exchange of translation files.

Improved evaluation of terminal allocations and multi-wire connections
Terminals can now be clearly allocated to the appropriate strip in the bill of materials. Terminal markings can be assigned to each terminal and are displayed in the circuit diagram and in the evaluations. All destination information is available in just one terminal diagram. With multi-wire connections all the wires for each connection can be listed in the interconnect diagram - leading to substantial time savings during assembly and maintenance work.

Improved ease of use
Additions and improvements regarding user prompting, copying pages, contactor selection, component filter and printing make working with EPLAN 21 even easier. Further functions such as definition of symbolic addresses, bi-directional data exchange with Clip Project 4.0 and additional API functions ensure that the new release 3.3 offers ideal opportunities for customised automation concepts.
