New Release EPLAN 5.40
At the end of this year, a new version of EPLAN 5 will be launched onto the market -- EPLAN 5.40. Based on the manifested process orientation of EPLAN Software & Service, new eMail functions, extensive customizable numbering formats, as well as new PLC functionalities are just some of the features of the new version which is tailored even better to optimally conform to entire production processes.

One of the important enhance- ments is the data backup or for- warding of projects respectively via eMail. Previously it had been necessary to start a mailing system to distribute EPLAN projects as attach- ments among other partici- pants. No need for that any more -- EPLAN 5.40
provides a new function which allows for sending projects directly from within EPLAN. Data backup is carried out at the same time so that there is no need for the time-consuming starting of other applications. And finally: it also works vice versa. Each forwarded project can be directly opened and edited in EPLAN, without having to manually start the mailing system (as, e.g., Microsoft Outlook).

Another highlight of the new version is the entirely customizable numbering format for devices, terminals, cables, and wires. Within the context of standardization, different enterprises need individual numbering options which in the past were restricted to a minimum and could not be adapted to suit company-specific requirements. Abiding by the planning process, it is possible now to assign user-specific formats and consistently update entire documentations in the twinkling of an eye.

Concerning the comfortable documentation of PLC controls, the well-established PLC Center is available; it represents a data pool consisting of graphics macros such as power supply units, CPUs, memory boards, input/output boards, etc. From within EPLAN the user can directly access the macros to quickly and comfortably document his/her controls. The already existing PLC cross-references can now display both the symbolical addresses and the connection designations in the PLC overview, with EPLAN 5.40
automatically identifying sensors and actuators which were not recorded in previous versions.

Since the better part of the more than 25,000 EPLAN 5
users uses the established version 5.30, release 5.40 further promotes the permanent development of the traditional EPLAN Classic Line.
